In the mid 70’s after I had my own home I found myself getting involved seriously showing Great Danes. I bought my very first from Ray Cataldi of Rojon Great Danes she was Ch. Rojon’s Mahogany. After that I was in it for the duration. Since then I have had some spectacular Danes and all of them, past and present, have a special place in my heart. Mentors like Ray Cataldi and John & Jessie Gerszewski have been the most influential as far as the direction I have taken with my danes. I only hope I am able to pass along some of the knowledge I have gained through the years.

In the 90’s I also started showing Vizsla’s and was very successful in the ring with them a great breed and they got along great with the danes. I feel fortunate to have that experience since a person, no matter what breed you are involved with, can learn a lot from the sporting breeds as far as structure and movement.

Through the years I have many great memories and wonderful experiences the most thrilling owner handling Winners Dog and the 1996 Great Dane Club of America National Specialy. I have acquired a lot of great friendships that share a common denominator, a passion for the Great Dane and to breed high quality dogs that not only can be a family companion, but also of sound mind and health.

We are looking to the future and as you browse through our website you will see why we are so excited. I currently co-own and co-breed some of our danes with Mary Lee Williams of Mesaba Great Danes, which has been great since we both have the same goals and ideas. We have some great plans for the future.

At Sumner Great Danes we do breed on a limited basis we do not produce multiple litters a year. We will keep our available page updated with information.
